It sounds like gas to me. The Super M will sometimes have bowl problems and once you get it running it can suck down enough fuel to idle, but it won't do any work. Then if it stalls it will just pop and try to start, but won't actually start.
Try emptying the fuel bowl and then see if fuel runs into it real good. It should fill up real fast, with the fuel running in a stream, if it's just drips or spurts listen to the tank and if you can hear air bubbles your having the same trouble I am. Then come back here and explain and ask again.
