I thought it would make for interesting discussion for different ones of you to post what five tractors would comprize your ultimate or ideal antique tractor collection, assuming storage room and money are not a factor. I currently live in town and don't have room for full size tractors so I can currently only colllect garden tractors, of which I have four. However, if I could, the following are the tractors which I would consider my own personal perfect collection and my reasons for choosing them. Tractor 1. Farmall F-30 on rubber tires with Power-Lift I consider the F-30 as the best general purpose tractor built prior to the letter series tractors. Tractor 2. Farmall Super MTA V (High Clearance) The Series III Super M (SMTA) was the finest and most advanced Sumper M built and I always liked high clearance Farmall tractors. This tractor combines both of those features. Tractor 3. International Super WDR9 (Rice Field Special) These standard type tractors had well preporationed looks with their big fenders, big Rice & Cain rear tires and tall single guide ring front tires. The Super WDR9 is a rare version these days of the Super WD9 and is not often seen in tractor shows. Tractor 4. Farmall B-450 Diesel This tractor is a very rare tractor in the USA. It was only sold in the Memphis District as far as I know, and when we sold them new they were a very good tractor. The represent what the Super M would have evoved to if it had gone to the direct start 4 cylinder diesel engine and the intergral factory three point hitch which the B-450 have. Tractor 5. Farmall 806 Diesel with factory steel wheels The Farmall 706's and 806's were the last Farmall tractors offered whith steel wheels from the factory. I saw a number of new F706's and F806's on steel at the factory awaiting shipment of South America. However I have never seen one on factory steel actually in the field. (I have seen specially made steel rice wheels but they don't count). I believe this F806 on steel would be a very interesting show tractor. Alternate Tractor. Farmall 656 Hydrostatic Diesel Hi-Clear If I could not get one of the chosen five this would be a first alternate. I sold a number of these new and always liked both the way they operated and the way the Hi-Clear looked. I hope this will generate interest and discussion and many others will submitt their "Perfect Cpollection". Don't just limit it to IHC products. Those are just what I like best. Harold H
