The hard part about this discussion is the five tractor limit. I have about 20 tractors, mostly all Farmalls but I have some other favorites. My favorite 5 are: #1. 1924-26 Farmall Regular - Without the development of this revolutionary design (row crop)almost all the tractors you fellows listed would never have been built. #2. 1917 IH 8-16 - only 125 were built in '17. They were IH's first attempt at a more universal tractor to provide both belt and drawbar power. #3. Farmall F-30 - Any year, by far the best designed and porportioned F series ever built. #4. IH Mogul - If you're dreaming why not dream big! I just love to see and hear these early develops chug along at shows. Can you imagine living in a time where that was the latest technology. #5. Fordson Major - 1950's I was raised on one of these creatures and learned they were one of the most handy, versitile tractors ever made. The diesel engine used in these tractors was 10-15 years ahead of the competition. Man, is that five already? My alternate would be an IH 856 with a narrow front end and fast hitch. In my opinion this was IH's version of the JD 4020. Hat off to Harold for starting this great discussion! I thought about my list a lot.
