Yes, plumb an open center two-way valve from the current pressure port (ie: you leave the current control rod engaged all the time) and run the return to a tee fiting that you put on the reservoir filler neck. IH sold a valve that attached to the filler neck for this purpose, or any aftermarket valve would do.
