Curt: Lets start out by saying that I am not an expert. We did take the gvnr. off of my 240 utility (Same engine) a couple of weeks ago. My problem was that the Engine was not being governed and at times not responding to the hand throttle. What we found was the linkage was catching on both the carb and engine block behind the carb. ALWAYS CHECK LINKAGE FIRST you might have a similar problem. The gvnr is easy to take on and off. There is a spring inside that may be off that would explain your unusual problem. I would also look at an IT book for a picture of the thing so you can see where the spring is suposed to be. (but the thing looks pretty bullet proof to me) Let me know if you need a Fax of that page in my IT manual. good luck Mechanic"n
