Jeff,
Look on the tractor part for the casting numbers. They are raised and cast into the larger parts. They'll look something like 4-11-Q, which would be April 11, 1947. Starting in 1938 with H and ending in 1958 with D, only V was skipped and when Z was reached they started with A again. U and W were both used in 1951. Confusing, but helpful sometimes when there's no tag.
