Is there a noticeable difference in the speed that the starter turns the engine when hot or cold? Remember that the voltage regulator will never charge the batteries any more than the better battery's condition. The regulator senses this condition of the better battery and charges accordingly. The lessor charged battery never gets brought up to top condition. Two years is about the life of optimum performance of a battery. Battery manufacturers are less than honest with the ratings they put on the batteries also. Rarely will they deliver the output stated. Always install the largest and heaviest battery that will fit the box on a piece of equipment. Starter problems usually are brought about by poor batteries.
