hairline crack on cub

i'm looking at a 1949 farmall cub with a small hairline crack near the serial number plate (behind and below the short radiator hose). it is a "virgin" crack in that no repairs have ever been attempted.
i have been told by john healey (of this forum) that this is common to cubs. my question is- should i still buy this tractor? the crack is "tight" and about an inch long.
