Hi Terry, My book shows 75-80 ft-lbs on the main caps. The book says late engines (in the 230-240 series) used a threaded crankshaft and a nut to hold them on. My 240U block has the threaded nut which has ears to catch the hand crank on the end of the nut, but you can see the hex nut just below those ears. I don't know for sure, but I think this change happened at the same time they went from the wide to the narrow fan belt. If you don't see a nut, your pulley should be press fit. Get a large bearing puller to put behind the pulley to distribute the force so you don't break a lip off the pulley, and a large 2 jaw puller that will reach behind the bearing puller. Those pulleys are very tight. You'll have a blast putting it back on! Stan(VA).
