Slick - A few things I learned while replacing the cam gear on my SM: 1 - Set the crank to TDC #1 cylinder firing before you start pulling off parts. Then don't disturb the crank/cam while the cam gear is off. Will save time/frustration when it's time to put it back together. 2 - You're gonna need a 2-1/2" socket to get the nut that holds the pulley onto the crankshaft. Fortunately it's not torqued real tight - a truck rear wheel bearing socket should drive it OK (did for me anyway...) A shop rag stuck into the crank/cam gear mesh will hold the crank from turning. Once the nut is off the pulley should slide right off the crank - no puller is req'd. 3 - Recommend using a new keeper AND locktite under the cam nut so it won't work loose again! 4 - I didn't install a new gasket under the timing cover. Instead I simply cleaned up the mating surfaces, gave the cover side a light coat of Permatex Red RTV gasket maker and bolted it back on. Hasn't leaked a bit! Hope this helps...

"Run in the house and get me a...."as I open th
