Steve you do not have to repolarize the generator each time the cables are disconnected. I have never had that problem on my Hs. or M.

You will probably have to make that flat resistor. Unless your generator is charging really high in the high charge position, I wouldn't worry about it. I have checked around and have not found a source for that flat resistor. If someone has a source, let us know!
