When you are almost at TDC on number one , number four cylinder valves should move almost together when you rock the crank back and forth, by that I mean the valves will be very close together in movement..exhaust opens, closes and intake opens all within a few degrees of rotation and that should give you TDC on number one and you can set your spark for firing on the down stroke of #1. M's have marks on the crank pulleys....I have two H's but I've never had to time them..I am guessing there are marks on the pulley to guide you...if not the setting suggested should be close enough to start it and you can adjust by turning the distributor housing...good luck from Mike in Exeter Onatrio
