Shifter removal 1950 Cub

Guys can I pull the bolts around the shifter plate and just lift it straight up being careful, Will the detents, shifting forks, springs ect all stay in tact to inspect inside of trans as suggested by another member, I feel I have some broken teeth on second gear or revrse idler.And also can reinstall same way as removed with out loading any springs ect. Thanks
