Timming light T.D.C. as per factory

How about 2 degrees advanced from factory spes. would this make it run hot and spark knock??? Would this help it make a little more power, as long as there is no pre detonation. can;t have spark knock/ no good. Used to running small block chevy race motor 40 degrees advance@ 7,200 rpms,----ouch! with the 1600 max rpm's on cub don't know if 2 degrees would help or hinder. Thanks Guys.
