I can't say for sure because I have not done it. The way I time a tractor is to just turn the distributor/mag until it runs and pulls smoothly at high rpm and low rpm.

2 degrees probably wouldn't hurt because your tractor was probably designed to run on 70 octane fuel (or so) and now we have 87 to 92 octane.
