Moisture in the fuel may not be the problem. When fuel vaporizes, it cools the carburetor and intake pipe. When temperatures are cool, the fuel is harder to vaporize, and when it does start to evaporate, it simply compounds the problem by robbing heat from the surrounding metal. Gasolines compounded for winter use tend to work better in cold weather than the stuff produced for the summer, but sometimes a little extra heat can help things get started alot sooner and easier. I've got an old hairdryer at the barn that I routinely park between the frame rail and the engine to blow warm air on the carb of my SM when I have to start it below zero.
