As a longtime taxpayer in upstate NY, this is typical of how the state (mis)manages it's finances - i.e. MY tax $!

I'm fairly certain however those machines made it out into the hobby market and were not melted down. The scrappies have a real good idea what stuff like this is worth. Example: Last summer a buddy of mine purchased a 400 at an auction of surplus equipment originally out of the Albion Correctional Facility. He gave close to $2K for it....
