Black smoke indicates carb problems. You're running too rich. Since adjusting the carb makes no difference, you probably need either a carb rebuild or a new carb if yours is too messed up. White smoke is oil burning. Could be getting by the rings or seeping in through the valve seals. The black smoke will be an easy fix. The whiteish/bluish smoke may mean rings and/or valve job. I dont know if i'd do the kerosene thing. You can get oil additives that do the same thing, add to oil just before changing. Kero is so thin you may wind up scoring or gouging a rod/main bearing. However you could remove the valve cover and pour some over the valves and let it drain down through the engine and out the drain plug.
