I have just purchased a Farmall M SN.246839. What year is it 1950? I have been told that it has not been run in approx. a year. She billows or blows smoke at idle and when you first put her under load. The color is black at load and a whitish color at idle. I changed the oil last evening. 40 wt.I am in Fl. It seems to have made the situation worse. I put in 8 qts. and a new filter. I put new plugs in gap at .025. The old plugs had a buildup of black on them. Looking inside with a flashlight it looked black and moist. She runs fine, doesn't lack power. I tried to adjust the carb and she runs the same. There is a screw ( Discharge nozzle) that is dripping gas. It seems that it doesn't tighten up. What can I do , is this a threaded piece. A farmer has suggested that i dump the oil and run kerosene in her for about 15 minutes at idle and then some. then to drop the pan and drain. then to fill it and run it. He said they used to do that all the time to get rid of the sludge that had accumulated over time or if they thought that she had been neglected. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Also to put a "SUPER M " kit in does it require any machine work or is it just the difference in the jugs and liners?
