Hey Steven - Keep in mind that unless you go with a small hyd pump (3 - 4 gpm max), you likely to encounter belt slipping problems driving it with V-belt off the crank. It takes about 8 or 9 HP to spin a 10 GPM pump @ 1,200 psi (size of a live pump on an SH and 300). This amount of power and the relatively low speed of the crank pulley is gonna make V-belt drive marginal even under ideal conditions. Then factor in wear, dirt, oil, rain, belt stretch, etc. and the problem gets worse. So unless you know you are going to have only very light hydraulic loads, I'd not recommend driving a full-size hydraulic pump on a single belt from the crankshaft.
