Live hydralics for my Farmall H...

Posted by Steven@nd on February 20, 2002 at 08:53:33 from (165.234.130.32):

I've got everything figured out except exactly how to drive the pump. I am thinking a belt drive from the crankshaft. Did an H/SH/300/350 somewhere along the line have a double pulley on the crankshaft? Or am I going to have to have a machine shop weld another pulley on my existing crankshaft pulley?

In case someone is interested how I am going to do the live hydralics, I will explain it as best I can. I already have a Farmall A with hydralics added on. It runs from a belt on the belt pulley so of course it is not live, but at least I have hydralics, right? There is a little 4gpm pump mounted on some homemade brackets that works good for lifting smaller implements (mower, etc.) and for a reservoir I used a starting tank from a WD-9 slightly modified for outlet and return lines. I plan on using a similiar pump for my H, belt driven from the crankshaft so it will be live. Since my H is a dual fuel, I already have a mounting point for the reservoir that will look factory. The hydralic lines can be hidden behind the frame rail and I will build a stand from the axle for the control valve.

I know it's not original, but my tractors have to earn their keep. Any questions or comments on my plans are welcome!

Steven
