Price was the main reason, it was cheaper to build the I series stripped down, cheaper seat, cheaper non adjustable wide front axle, maybe 1 or none hyd control outlet, Farmall was automatically a row crop tractor, front and rear row width adjustable, you could strip a Farmall down somewhat but the basic price was still higher.
