I acquired an M under similar circumstances. Had good luck doing the following: 1 -Drain the oil and refill with fresh. Put in a new filter too.
2 - Remove the spark plugs and shoot a couple ounces of motor oil or WD-40 into each jug.
3 - Now see if you can turn the motor. If you can, give it several revolutions, then....
4 - Install new spark plugs.
5 - Pop the distributor cap and wipe it dry inside. Clean and regap the points, or install a new set.
6 - Dump the gas tank, clean the sediment bowl and drain the carb (plug on the bottom of the carb bowl). Put in a couple gallons of fresh gas.
7 - Stick in a fresh battery, cross your fingers for luck and crank 'er up. Good luck! PS - Good idea to check for wasp nests around the fan, in the battery box, etc. before doing the above - I did not and wished later I had...
