Kurt - what's sad, is that the heirs may not have the love for them as the first person. One may get too involved and have a sincere desire to "save" what we all knew 20-30-40 years ago as the prime time in ag and machinery, but unless you go to a big gathering of tractors, or whatever, you do not see the interest sometimes, at home. It is easy to go overboard on our collecting, and then it becomes just "stuff grampa had" and no meaning to them. And.....if our heirs did not live during the time WE did, they dont understand why we like what we do. I know I just say this as an opinion, but, when you see estate sales happen, it is something similar to what can become of our
"treasures" too. Sure, there may be exceptions, and certain rare or special models worth a lot, but the genuine LOVE of the machines, and hobby, is not always the same among families, and the tradition may not be carried on. THAT to me, is what is sad. Our heritage might not mean the same to our kin. Example.....how many todays youth care about how the farms used to make a living, how to milk cows, have flocks of poultry, raise bum lambs ? How many kids like history, or attend any local museums ? We dont even have an ag shop for painting, or a welding shop in school allowed hardly. Too many drugs and video games abound for tempting the kids too. Then, the shaky farm economy is not exactly appealing either. On and on......
So, Farmall as an investment ?? Don't know !!
