Guys its been almost 50 years since these tractors were built. You will now find all kinds of variations in the different models. A lot of people have used salvage parts for repairs by now, and since virtually every power train part is interchangable, you now have some real mixtures. Sure they were all good tractors. Every make and every model ever built had the odd lemon, and for someone to judge a model on one specific tractor is not proper. The legacy of these three tractors is well known, and is much longer than these three tractors Starting with the M in 1939 all the way to the end of production of 686 there are a few common parts or parts that will interchange. ie The 560 rear wheel and front end, (narrow or wide) will fit every one of them. M, Super M, Super MTA, 400, 450, 560, 606, 656, 666, and 686 that my friends is 40 years of production, and all are derivatives of the Farmall M. I farmed a lot of years and owned 12 Farmalls that were purchase new on my farm. Three of them Super M, 560D, 656D came from list above. As far as I am concerned as of 2002 no one has built a more efficient tractor.
