Dave, I would agree with what you are doing, ATF has been widely used for valve sticking. "RISOLONE" is a product I have used on a sticking valve but that was on a running engine...an oil additive that is to lube valves, even have put some oil in the gas (Sucking out of a gallon can) to give everything some lube. A rubber hammer might just jar them loose. Are the intakes moving OK? If you do have to pull the head it won't be that bad a job but you will have the expense of a gasket set. It is amazing what lubricants and penetrating oils can do..I hope it works out easiest for you and good luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario
