Hey Boog - I encountered a similar problem on a 9280 a couple years ago. Turned out to be one of the batteries had spontaneously gone bad. You could see it on the 9280's voltmeter - 12+ volts with the key on, then dropped below 8 volts with the starter engaged. (Ordinarily it cranks at around 10 volts or so....)

Another (long shot) possibility - presuming the cables, connections, solenoids, etc are all OK - is the starter lost one of it's field windings.
