TA is for Torque Amplifier. The SMTA was the third series development of the Super M and was available both with or without the TA. Basicly the Series I SM added cubic inches and disc brakes over the regular M. The Series II SM added live hydraulics to the Series I SM and the Series III was the SMTA which added TA and IPTO (indpendent pto) to the Series II SM. Harold H
