Hi Marty: How is the Super A and rest of family. Down fall of IH, having farmed all those years, I don't need a book. In the 1950s IH had in the Farmalls the best torqued engines in the business, the most manuverable tractor, etc. That not to say it couldn't stand improvments, technology was changing. In my mind, as a farmer three items led to IH down fall (1)Fast Hitch was a good idea when it got to 706-806. However, Harry Ferguson won the war before IH sold its first Fast Hitch. (2) 460-560 should not have existed, 04-06 series should have and could have been ready by 1960. (3) 66 series should not have existed, 56 series the absolute best tractor IH ever built was doing a good job. 66 just gave us a cab the quality of which the aftermarket were already providing. I believe 86 series following 56 could have happened. This my friends is comming from an old farmer who put aprox 60,000 hours on four tractors. They were Farmalls 300, 560D 656D and 1066, they were good but I believe you can readily see the improvments that could have come sooner. Hugh
