Yes, no, maybe.... The liftall holds 6 quarts, and that's by itself, with nothing hooked to it. It'll run fine with 4 or 5 (or even 3) quarts it it, as it would have when you extend a couple of cylinders. It'll also run fine if it's got an extra quart in it! I've got a loader on my M that must come pretty close to emptying the lift-all on that tractor when it's totally extended. If it gets to the point where it won't fully extend, I add a quart or two. My M has no dipstick, but I'd bet it's a little over-full when the loader is down. Those old units are simple, rugged, dependable, and very forgiving!
