Do like what is stated earlier, and if the tractor is to be used for mowing or any type of pulling, here is a little trick to use on the asbestos head gaskets.. before installing the head gasket, hold it under water and keep it there until all air is removed from the space inbetween the gasket. This will allow the asbestos to expand back to its original configuration, and eliminate any cracks or voids caused by the material drying out. once you have the tractor running don't be alarmed if water seeps from the asbestos material, but do make the usual check to see if the gasket has sealed..
