If you "Search This Site" see under "Research & Info" to the left, you will find LOTS of information on oil and types. What you will not find is a definate answer. What I beleive is this. Keep clean oil and filter in your tractor and your engine will last. Personally I am a beleiver in multi grade HD oils but only after pulling the oil pan and cleaning up the goo that is in there.

Is this tractor new to you, I have bought tractors with contaminated oil and after chainging it out and storing them inside, have never had a problem.
