The first thing I'd check are the battery cables. They need to be HEAVY w/good ends. If you have "clamp-on" ends (clamp on ends are designed to be a temporary fix), throw the cables away & get some new ones. Don't get the kind that are sold in automotive supply houses-they are WAY TOO LIGHT for 6V. Go to your friendly C-IH dealer (or any other farm equipment dealer-even green) or a parts house that knows farm equipment. These guys can make 'em if they don't have them is stock. Take your old cables along for measurment purposes. (BTW-good ones are lotsa $$$.) Remember: clean, bright & tight are the watchwords for 6V systems. Then I'd check the generator & regulator. (My Super C's generator doesn't work & we've started it lotsa times in the last six months, w/o charging the 6V that was new last fall. It needs charging soon, but still started the tractor last Sat.) Finally, I'd check the ignition system, including both the on-off switch & starter pull switch. Good luck. Hope this helps!
