Hard to start Farmall 140

Under reasonable starting conditions how long should a 6V battery last? A new battery puchased 6 months ago does not have enough juice to start my 140. I do not run the lights. Is there a checklist of items I can go through to identify the problem? Thanks in advance, Jack
