Dan - Most tractor spark plug threads are metric - not NPT. They're generally 18mm, though some later motors use 14mm plugs. Also the earliest tractors (1920's) used a 7/8" thread I think. HOWEVER you can accomplish what you suggest by busting the guts out of an old spark plug and welding a 1/4" nipple capped with a grease fitting to the remaining plug shell. Screw this modified plug into the head. Now pump the cylinder with grease (or gear oil - easier to clean up afterward...) from a grease gun. Just be careful about bending rods, etc! 2,500 psi applied to a 4" diameter piston develops an incredible amount of force... (You also need good valves in the cylinder being pumped).
