Disk brakes were and option for all Ms, from the very beginning. I'm not sure, but I think they were factory installed, but could have been a dealer option. The brakes were made by Lambert and are in the parts books at my IH dealer. He can even get disks for them, but not many other parts. They are different than the disk brakes on the Supers. The housing is held on by only three bolts, whereas I think the Supers have 4 or 5 bolts. The housing looks entirely different than the Super disk brakes. I have a 1947 MD that has these brakes and have seen some other gas Ms with them. I saw an M sold at Auction last fall that had the brakes. The guy that bought it told me the reason he bought it was that it had those brakes which are not very common.
