By most folk's standards, a TA rebuild is a big deal. The center section of the tractor has to come out (double split) to access the ramp & carrier, which is the failed assembly when low doesn't work. a $500 bill plus some more for gaskets & seals will be the bare minimum in parts only. I did the TA in my 400, replacing the TA clutch & pressure plate, main clutch ,release & pilot bearings, and rear main seal "while I was in there" and spoiled $1000 in parts. Using just direct drive will do no further damage to your 350.
