Before I head to the shop, my wiring diagram shows an "F" on the cut-out in addition to "BAT" and "GEN." Why would this F appear on the diagram without an obvious connection to a point elsewhere in the system? My cutout has "BAT" and "ARM" only and is clearly labeled for + or - ground. Also my cutout appears to be a sealed unit; I can't check its insides. My multimeter shows good continuity between the generator field terminal and ground through the light switch field resistor.
