Wheel Size

Help! I bought a 504 at an auction and I thought it looked a bit squatty in the rear. I see there are 36" wheels on it and in checking manuals I see the 504 supposedly came with 38's, thus the reason that it is lower in back. Here's my question: The 36" wheels are definitely IHC and the axle size is the same as on the 450, 560, etc. Does anyone know what tractor of that vintage used 36" wheels? I took the number off the casting of the wheel, but the parts person at the local Case/IH couldn't find any cross reference to it. I'd like to put the proper 38's on the 504 so it would "sit up straight". I can do that anyway but am curious to know where these 36" wheels came from as I don't think they came from the factory that way. Any clues from you experts? Thanks.
