The thing I don't understand is that I have the distillate head. Casting number is 8776 D. It came from a dual fuel tractor that still had the adjustable manifold on it, and both tractors had the same heads on it. Did they change the deck height on the block during production? I have a 1944 block that I got from a salvage yard in it. As for being centered on the valve stem, they weren't centered on the engines when I took them apart. I'm going to take a closer look at them again today to see if it is going to work OK. The pistons in mine are Conformatic. Step head cost $5 over flat top. And my whole engine kit cost less than just the sleeves and pistons from IH (firecrater). Steven
