pulling 706 in gear, other ??

can i pull my 706 in gear to free it up? i believe the clutch is hydrolicly controlled but i figure id ask before i tried. also whats that large lever on the left side of the console do? how many horse power would this tractor be on a gas engine? i am bring her home on the flatbed sunday and am very excited to tear into her. thank you for all that respond!
