Hey all of you, I picked up a Farmall H for 500 dollars. Has good tires, pretty much all i there, I think. I have some quick questions for all of you Red Power Jocky's out there.... How can I tell if the gears are good in the tranny without starting it and driving it? Can I jack up the entire rear and crank the motor with a starting crank to see if each gear spins the rear axles? It has a 6 volt distributor on it now. I want to clean and sharpen up the distributor so until it is done, I want to put a magneto on it. How do I install the magneto drive gear in the right way? I know I need to put the magneto in with the rotor in the right place. Can I put a magnet in the gas tank to yank out the rust particles or stick one to the bottom outside of the tank to hold them there? Is the Shifter bolt and insert still available? (The parts that hold the gear shifter in place?) What is the main difference between H's with a large oil Filter Cover and a small oil filter cover? This one has a small oil filter cover. The serial number is: FBH-255330. Ever heard of putting an 8 volt battery in a Farmall with 6 volt stuff? This guy does it. How does he do it? The guy had a Farmall C for sale as well. He wanted 1500 dollars for it. I guess I am looking for a Super C, not a C. He had a BN, an A, a B, and some other odds and ends. He had a bunch of steel wheels for an F12, I think. I get the Farmall H delivered next Friday up at the cabin. I am excited. Not much fishing going on in Northern Minnesota,...too cold, and it rained all day Saturday. Oh well, worked on the 1942 H... just as fun... Thanks to you all! Scott.

An Old-Time Tractor Demonstration - by Kim Pratt. Sam was born in rural Kansas in 1926. His dad was a hard-working farmer and the children worked hard everyday to help ends meet. In the rural area he grew up in, the highlight of the week was Saturday when many people took a break from their work to go to town. It was on one such Saturday in the early 1940's when Sam was 16 years old that he ended up in Dennison, Kansas to watch a demonstration of a new tractor being put on by a local dealer. It was an Allis-Chalmers tractor dealership,
