What did you do with the load screw? The one on the bottom. I adjust that one with throttle open, by listening and when the engine is smooth without smoking(running rich) that is where I leave it. The idle screw is actually an air adjustment, and by screwing it out, you are actually leaning the fuel/air mix as I understand it, so you are running rich on the idle too now. I think this is better than running lean, which is a good way to burn your valves.
