I'm too dang cheap to rent a pressure washer and have an aversion to sandblasting anything with bearings in it, so I cleaned up my Farmall B with a wire brush, wire wheel in a drill, paint scraper, putty knife and for the really persistent bits of caked on crud I used dental picks. Lots of time, but I'm not in a race, so I didn't care. Removed rust with naval jelly, removed grease and dirt and crud with kerosene, and did a final degrease by wiping with a rag soaked with mineral spirits. By the way, I'm a non-smoker, if you smoke, the kerosene and mineral spirits may not work for you.
