Scotty, Same thing happened to us, put the engine back together, it started hunting, rebuilt the inner part of the governor, still hunted, adjusted that spring, still hunted...finally pulled the spring out and found the problem. Nah a '46 isn't to old for us! Ours is a '53 though. Did you have any problems getting your head gasket to seal when you put it back together? Refresh my memory, where in NY are ya? That club in Locke has their 1st pull this weekend, unfortunately the Super C still needs a new "Sunday Suit" so she won't make her pulling debut for a month or so. Pete
