There is one other way to remove rust. Use a plastig garbage can or PLASTIC 55 gal. drum and a battery charger. Use a piece of scrap iron for the anode (+ side) and the part to be derusted for the cathode (- side). Fill the drum with a solution of "washing soda", or TSP (trisodium phosphate) or Baking Soda will work. Turn on the battery charger and wait a day. Check periodically after that to see how it's doing. Parts will look black, but clean up like fresh metal. Dry and prime quickly to prevent flash rust, then paint when ready. There's a web page about doing this somewhere, but I don't have the link handy. Search for rust or removing rust and you should be able to find it. Phil P.S. the oven cleaner works great on grease!
