Curt, my belief always has been that a Hydrostatic was designed for an application where you had a power take off driven implement that needed the rated RPM's of the engine to do it it's job and the SR lever of the HYDRO to vary your ground speed. Many who had 234 pickers and sheller attatchments on the 826 HYDRO, praised them, as you could vary the speed without sacrificing the power needed for shelling when going from light to heavy intake. At least that is what I learned over the years. The reason I don't like hearing people using them that hard on a study pull is that oil gets terrifically hot. I know it does have a hot light for the HY-TRAN temp, should be right on the lower dash panel, keep an eye on it. Hope that helps you.
