Keith - I'm not familiar with the 560 gages, However presuming it has a magnetic (not thermal) gage movements, there are several possibilities: 1 - Ground in the wire between the gage and the sender. 2 - Bad ground at the tank sender. 3 - Bad ground at the gage 4 - Bad sender (it's stuck in the "full" position) 5 - Bad gage (the compensating winding inside the gage has burned out) If you have an ohmeter, suggest removing the wire between the gage and the sender. Now measure the resistance between this wire and ground. If it shows 0 ohms resistance, #1 is the problem. If it shows resistance in the megohm (or infinite) range, #2 is the problem. If it shows a few ohms, note the reading then fill the tank. If the resistance reading doesn't change after the tank is filled, suspect #4. If the resistance DOES change, it's either #3 or #5 (if #5 figure on a new gage...) Now if the 560 has THERMAL gage movements (characterized by moving real slow when turned on or off), problem could still be #1 or #4. Hope this helps!! (FWIW I've encountered all but #5 at one time or another with my beat-up, old ('84), daily ride...)
