Farmall 140 was built from 1958 through 1979. Over the years it had some sheet metal styling changes, so as to look like other current Farmalls of the day. The only mechanical change I am aware of, and not sure of date, was the addition of a solinoid and key ignition. It was near 1967-68. Prior to that it had a pull-push button ign. and a pull rod from dash to starter for starting. I would like to know which yours is. This tractor is a derivative of the Farmall A frist built in 1939, using a 113 cubic inch engine, no starter 1st year, mag ign., no hydraulics. In 1947-48 came Super A hydraulics as on your tractor and coil ign. These two early tractors had no water pump and were cooled by thermosyphon. 1953 saw the Super A1 with water pump, 123 cubic inch engine and fast hitch. 1954 to 56 it was called 100 with styling changes and larger tires and 56 to early 58 it was 130 with one change, some white paint on grill and side of hood. Over the years attachments have been many, The mower you refer to I believe is just a beefed up sickle mower. There were rear and side mount mowers for these tractors. There may be some other mower I am not aware of. Do you have a bit more detail on this. These are a great little tractor, will by far out perform its ratings. My uncle operated a 20 cow, 100 acre dariy farm and Super A was only source of power, during 50s. They were designed as a cultivation tractor, one row, used a lot in vegetable and tobacco farming. I have two of these , a Super A and 130 for retirement. They are very very versitile with the many and varied attachments. After market and home builders have come up with as many attachments as IH did. I have one bit of advice, stay away from front end loaders. I could ramble forever if you have any more specific questions ask . I or someone on forum will answer. We love doing this.

I have always had a love for machinery, and an appreciation for farming and farm machinery. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Not a place one would associate with farms or farm machinery. I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo
