Thanks for replying. When the motor is turning over with the starter, there is a flicker of the light with the test light on the side post of the magneto. Is that supposed to be correct? I assume it's a result of the points opening and closing. And from what I now understand from the people replying, the kill switch is just a ground-out to the magneto to shut it down. By placing the lightmeter on the kill switch there should not be any current or response from the lightmeter. And that is what is happening.
